Economic Resources of the Union of Burma
Abstract:
The report presents an in-depth study of the economic geography of Burma. It discusses the historical background of the country, its economy to 1967, a consideration of the population distribution and of the various tribal and racial groups, and its physical base of geology and geomorphology, climate, vegetation, forests and soils. One section examines the agriculture and mineral resources and another the industries, transportation, trade and commerce. A final chapter analyzes and evaluates economic development in Burma, and especially the economic programs and policies which were formulated in the early years of independence from colonial status.
