The research on the project has fallen into four general categories 1 synthetic, in which attempts have been made to build up a broad overview of the entire subject of the electronic structures of disordered materials 2 precise studies of simple model systems 3 formulating and applying simplified models of real materials and 4 accurate studies of real materials.
