Radar Target Approach Simulator,

Abstract:

A technique employed to generate nondispersive, continuously variable microwave time delay for the simulation of the approach of a radar to its target is described. A bulk elastic wave excited in a transparent crystal enables thousands of feet of propagation range time delay to be achieved in one-inch crystal lengths. A CW HeNe laser is used to read the variably delayed radar signal out of the elastic wave in the transparent crystal. The performance parameters of the Dynamic Fuze Simulator DYFUS Model 127 are given and the DYFUS generated approach to target waveforms with two radar fuzes are briefly outlined. Author
