Models of Industrial Pollution Control in Urban Planning,
Abstract:
The paper formulates mathematical models to predict the consequences of air and water pollution discharge regulations on the development of a regional economy. Although it is apparent that not all problems resulting from urban growth are economic in nature, some of the more challenging tasks that confront decisionmakers are listed under this heading. The method of approach and techniques to solve the models can be generalized to include non-industrial sources. The implications of pollution control enforcement on industrial development are discussed. Model assumptions on industrial waste abatement methods and associated costs are listed. Author
