The Extent of Hearing Loss in the Army: A Survey Report
Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to survey the incidence of noise-induced hearing loss among United States Army troops. Accurate hearing threshold data were obtained from a heterogenous sample of 2726 men representing different branches and lengths of time of active duty. The study provides evidence suggesting that noise-induced hearing loss is the number one hazard to the health of Army personnel. The report summarizes the magnitude of the problem among career Army personnel with over 10 years on active duty.
