Ball Indentation Testing of Heavy Tungsten Alloys.
Abstract:
A study was conducted to ascertain the relative strength and quality of four heavy as-sintered tungsten alloys by ball indentation type testing such as that afforded by the Brinell testing machine. The basic parameters of indentations formed at different test loads were measured. The parameters included the recovered diameter and the recovered depth of penetration. The results were expressed as Meyer hardness values in kgsq mm where the load is divided by the projected area of the indentation. Meyer values were also derived from the recovered depth of the indentation. Tension properties and densities were determined for comparison to indentation test results. Author
