A Geometrical Basis for Direct Ranging in Hyperbolic Navigation Systems,

reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: AD0736549 | Need Help?

Abstract:

The geometry of hyperbolic navigation systems causes errors in time measurements to produce ambiguities in the location of navigation fixes. As these ambiguities tend to vanish as apparent positions approach the correct position, the differences in the ambiguous fix points are potentially useful as observation variables for the purpose of improving the estimated location of the correct fix. These fixes may be absolute geographical positions or repeatable positions based upon apparent ranges. Author
