Abstract:

The report covers the experimental effort of measuring, processing and analyzing earth temperature data beneath five different surface. Since the instrumentation and data processing phases of the endeavor have been described in the previous NBS Report 10223 entitled Automated Earth Temperature Station, only the analysis of the data is given in this report. Annual and typical daily plots of earth temperature under black, white, bare, short grass, and long grass surfaces are presented together with the surface weather conditions and soil moisture content.
