Critical Magnetic Properties of Europium Iron Garnet.
Abstract:
The critical magnetic properties of europium iron garnet EuIG have been studied in the vicinity of the Neel temperature. The sample used in this study was a single crystal grown by the flux method. Magnetic measurements were made by utilizing the kink-point method for a spherical specimen in conjunction with a vibrating sample magnetometer. The critical exponents beta, delta, and gamma were determined and compared with the scaling equation, betadelta-1gamma. An analysis was made in order to confirm the scaling prediction that the reduced magnetic field has a functional form which is dependent only upon the reduced magnetization. A test of the validity of the value for the Neel temperature, obtained by plotting applied magnetic field as a function of break-point temperature, has been made by application of the Kouvel-Fisher method.
