New Superconductors
Abstract:
The objective of the program was to study the theoretical and synthetic problems of producing higher temperature superconducting materials. The report consists of four principal sections A theory section concerned with the calculations of the effective electron-electron interaction in the vicinity of large organic molecules, calculation of Coulomb screening The extension of band theory methods to linear systems A synthesis section involved in the synthesis of transition metal linear organo-metallic systems of crystalline or covalently bound structures and with special ligand systems for control of the electronic environment of the metal atoms An x-ray section for determining the structure of crystalline samples and An experimental section for determining the material parameters of the prepared materials as functions of temperature and pressure. The synthetic portion includes the work on the so-called Krogmann complexes, cyanine dyes introduced into the glyoxime group, germanium oligomers, rhodium alalogs of the cobalt co-linear trimetallic monomer, SnCoSn, co-linear trimetallic monomers as tin-osmium-tin.
