Abstract:

The report describes the specifications for a high-level programming language designed to facilitate the development of conversational programs using the IBM 2250. GPL-I i.e. version I of GPL ADDRESSES ITSELF PRIMARILY TO THE CONVERSATIONAL MODE OF THIS TERMINAL, EVEN THOUGH THE 2250 POSSESSES POWERFUL GRAPHIC FEATURES. GPL-I is useful tool in developing statistical conversational units, which can best be described as the program modules, which, when executed, enable the 2250 to assume the role of the consulting statistician to the layman with little knowledge in statistics and computation.
