Abstract:

The general area of research in Surgery Department I of the Sahlgrenska is the mechanisms by which deranged tissue and organ perfusion create the clinical syndrome of shock. Making intensive use of radioisotopes labeled RBCs platelets, and fibrinogen, the hemodynamic processes occurring in capillary beds are examined. The numerous projects are grouped into six major programs 1 fibrinogen dynamics, 2 tissue oxidative metabolism, 3 thromboembolism in vascularization, 4 platelet function, 5 capillary blood flow, 6 organ transplantation.
