Tri-Color Cathode Ray Tube.
Abstract:
A beam penetration color cathode ray tube and associated electronics are analyzed to obtain improved performance in color display systems. Experimental methods are used to optimize the phosphor composition to obtain maximum red display brightness, while maintaining three distinguishable colors. Deflection linearity, color convergence, display brightness and contrast are analyzed to meet the program goals. Designs of an experimental model consisting of a 12-inch diameter CRT, and deflection, focusing, and anode circuitry are outlined. Performance tests and evaluation of the model are described and comparisons with the analysis and program goals are made. It is concluded that, with careful design of deflection and anode circuitry, the beam penetration CRT can be used in high performance color display systems showing color convergence to less than one spot diameter.
