Heat Transfer in Infinite Slabs.
Abstract:
An analysis is made of temperature distributions in a slab of finite thickness and infinite extent, one surface of which is perfectly insulated and the other surface of which is exposed to a fluid the temperature of which varies in a specified way. Two cases are considered. In the first case, the temperature of the fluid is suddenly changed and maintained at the new value. In the second case the temperature of the fluid increases linearly with time. From the solutions of these problems, curve sheets are developed which permit evaluating each of eight different quantities of engineering significance. These curve sheets cover more cases of interest and are easier to use than similar curves which have appeared in the report literature. Author
