The Mechanical Properties of Three Titanium Alloys.

Abstract:

The mechanical properties of three titanium-base alloys were investigated, and based on the properties obtained, these alloys should be considered for use in applications requiring tough, high strength, lightweight materials. The effect of heat treatment variables on the mechanical properties of all three alloys, and the effect of additions of O, C, N, and B on the properties of alloy C were determined. Variations in heat treatment resulted in a wide range of strength and toughness. Additions of O, C, N, and B to alloy C reduced toughness at low strength levels and, with the exception of boron, increased the maximum strength attained. Author
