Abstract:

3-Dimensional photoelasticity is used to find many stresses in a proposed high pressure breech closure. The stress distribution in the thread fillet is shown for three angular locations. These demonstrate the effect of sectoring on thread fillet stress. Many other areas of stress concentration are reported and future design recommendations are made. Author
