INVESTIGATION OF THE TURBULENT AND DRIFT MOTIONS IN THE IONOSPHERE.

The report describes the continuing operation of the Ionospheric Drift System at Billerica, Massachusetts. It contains an up-to-date tabulation of the stored data. The data is recorded on analog tape at the field station, then re-recorded in digital form at Lowell Technological Institute Research Foundation for computer analysis. During this process, interesting, unusual, or faulty records are noted and instructions prepared for amplitude and phase calibrations. Modification of the original drift system permits direct digital recording of data in a new format such that the original tapes may be computer analyzed without further data formatting. In addition, the data format of the modified system provides for multiple frequency operation with four receiving antennas instead of the three previously used. Author
