Abstract:

The bulk of the report is concerned with a description of the following two papers 1 Sets of uniqueness for the vibrating string problem published in the Transactions of the American Mathematical Society and, 2 Removable sets for pointwise solutions of the Cauchy-Riemann equations to be published in the Annals of Mathematics. These two papers represent one of the important concepts developed by the principal investigator during the period of the grant namely, by using the Laplace and generalized Laplace operators in conjunction with recent sophisticated developments in the theory of multiple trigonometric series, fundamental new results can be achieved in the theory of partial differential equations.
