RAY PATH IN EXPONENTIAL OCEAN MODEL WITH TOP LAYER MOTION.
Abstract:
A model of the ocean is assumed to consist of two horizontal layers. The top layer is assumed to be moving with a mass velocity decreasing exponentially with depth, whereas the speed of sound also decreases exponentially in this region. The layer below it is assumed to have an exponentially increasing mass velocity in the x-direction as well as the speed of sound increasing linearly with depth. The expression for ray path and its slope in a moving inhomogeneous stratified ocean is derived. The slope is plotted using a computer program. Author
