REPETITIVE EXCURSION DIVES FROM SATURATED DEPTHS ON HELIUM-OXYGEN MIXTURES. PHASE I: SATURATION DEPTH 350 FEET.

reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: AD0703610 | Need Help?

Abstract:

Five 350 foot saturation dives were conducted at the Navy Experimental Diving Unit to verify a no-decompression, repetitive excursion format developed by DSSP PM-11. Twenty divers completed a total of 344 man-excursion dives from the saturation depth. No symptoms of decompression sickness were reported during the excursion dives, during the bottom time at 350 feet or during the first 200 feet of decompression back to the surface. Five cases of decompression sickness did occur during the latter stages of decompression and they are discussed briefly. The occurrance of compression arthralgia and external otitis on deep saturation-excursion dives is also discussed. Author
