CONCEPTS FOR CABLE TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS,
Abstract:
It was shown that bi-directional transmission can greatly facilitate the expansion of cable television systems into newer services. The selection of these new services, to be provided over the coaxial cable facility, will be left up to system designers since each of them has its own economics and the most optimum technical solution. Existing cable television systems must be evaluated from the standpoint of market potential for the new services, and it must be determined if it will be practical and economical to re-adapt the one-way system to bi-directional operation. The type of bi-directional operation, i.e., one-cable or two-cable operation, must also be determined. Author
