BAUSCHINGER EFFECT IN LOW-CARBON STEEL DURING PURE SHEAR,
Abstract:
Reverse torsion tests were made of thin wall tabular specimens. With a preliminary deformation to 3 percent, the Bauschinger effect varies with deformation parabolically, at approximately 3 percent, the effect remains unchanged. Formulas were derived for the instantaneous radius of curvature of the flow boundary. The agreement between the theoretical and exptl. results is good. It is believed that the hypothesis of translational isotropic softening and hardening should replace the theory that considers the hardening only. Author
