FEAR OF FAILURE AND GENERAL ACHIEVEMENT BEHAVIOR.
Abstract:
Fear of failure appears to contain both negative and positive motivations operating in the achievement situation. In the study, some persons were working positively because they wanted whatever rewards were available in the situation, but others were probably working only because, if they didnt work, they would fail. If one does not recognize what these latter persons are trying to do, their behavior sometimes makes little sense. They are not trying to succeed they are merely trying not to fail. Author
