OPTIMUM FORM OF A HIGH ELONGATED MAGNETIZING COIL OF SUPERCONDUCTING MATERIAL,

reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: AD0695886 | Need Help?

Abstract:

A calculation technique used for determining the optimum form of a highly elongated magnetizing coil made of superconducting material is applicable to designing magnetohydrodynamic devices. The coil has the form of two long bundles of superconductors, and the problem can be considered in the two-dimensional xy plane perpendicular to the bundles. Superconductivity breaks down above a critical field intensity and the coil shape must be designed to insure the field in the superconductors. The problem is worked in relative field intensities at the bundle surface. The current density was assumed constant.
