SOVIET MILITARY AID AS A REFLECTION OF SOVIET OBJECTIVES, 1955-1967,
Abstract:
After the defeat of the Arab armies in June 1967, the Soviet government demonstrated a resolve to utilize military aid to gain influence in the Third World -- even if such policies involved considerable risk of war -- by moving quickly to replace Soviet weapons destroyed or captured by the Iaraelis. Soviet arms diplomacy appears to have a central place in Soviet ambitions to replace western with communist influence among the developing nations. The analysis of this important policy instrument is the concern of the document. Author
