Abstract:

The most complete data about the Ti-V-Al system are contained in this work. Alloys investigated in this work contained up to 60 percent V and up to 10 percent Al the remaining is titanium, which corresponds to alpha -, alpha plus beta - and beta-phase regions of the phase diagram. Seventy-gram ingots were smelted in an arc electrical furnace with a permanent tungsten electrode in an atmosphere of argon. For uniform alloys every ingot was turned four times and subjected to repeated remelting. A check weighing showed that the weight of the ingots very insignificantly differs from the weight of the initial charge, therefore the chemical composition of the alloys is given with respect to data about the composition of the charge.
