Abstract:

The report discusses the structure of alloys of the Th-Re system by methods of roentgen-phase analysis. The microstructure and the measurements of hardness are considered. It is shown that ThResubscript 2 will be formed by peritectic reaction and is in eutectic equilibrium with thorium the composition of the eutectic corresponds to 14.9 at. percent Re at 1400 degrees C. The content of ThResubscript 2 does not have a region of extent. Thorium and rhenium will not form noticeable regions of solid solutions.
