Abstract:

The use of Raman scattering as a diagnostic tool for measuring gaseous relaxation rates in a shock tube is investigated. The theory of Raman scattering is reviewed and the application to shock tube measurements is developed. Results of an experiment are discussed. While a Raman signal was detected it is concluded that additional development is required before this technique may by applied successfully. Author
