Abstract:

This article points out problems existing in the techniques of authenticating an electric resistance strain gage. After a brief explanation of technical requirements of the electric resistance strain gage in static strain measurements, the test and calibration methods of the double-bridge zero-reading type electric resistance strain gage are introduced. Gage calibration includes three parts, namely, structural inspections, operating performance tests, and calibration. The special feature of the proposed method is that the standard delta RR used in the calibration is not the resistance change produced by strains in resistance strain strips, but is produced by an electric method therefore, accuracy is high. Design and construction data for a strain gage calibrator are also given. The calibration methods and calibrator proposed have been proved to have high accuracy by practical application and guarantee that electric resistance strain gage error after calibration will be less than plus or minus 1.
