ACOUSTIC PROPERTIES OF POLYETHYLENE NEAR THE MELTING POINT.
Abstract:
Ultrasonic absorption and velocity measurements were made on high density polyethylene to above the melting point. The measurements were done at 53 kHz and showed a maximum in absorption in excess of 10 dbcm above the room temperature absorption. A simple two state theoretical model crystalline and amorphous correctly predicted the shape of the absorption curve but not the magnitude of the peak. Author
