ULTRASONIC REFLECTIVITY OF SINGLE AND POLYCRYSTALLINE SAMPLES OF COPPER.

Abstract:

Ultrasonic reflectivity at water-copper boundaries has been studied as a function of frequency, angle of incidence, and orientation of the plane of incidence. The investigation has included various single crystal surfaces as well as polycrystalline samples which exhibit a wide range of metallurgical microstructure. The results have been quite helpful in furthering our understanding of the more important parameters that influence ultrasonic reflectivity, especially the rather anomalous effects often observed near the angle of incidence where surface waves are excited.
