Abstract:

A method is presented for the prediction of the farfield from nearfield measurements of only the amplitude of a sound source. The method is based on a finite series expansion of the auto-power in the field. A numerical evaluation is given for a small theoretical source distribution under incoherent, partially coherent, and coherent conditions and it is shown that good results can be obtained if enough nearfield measurements are made.
