Abstract:

The paper describes the characteristics and extent of the world continental margin. The geological differences between the continental platforms and the ocean basins are described and portrayed. The amount and location of shallow water areas of less than 1000 fathoms or 2000 meters are described in detail. A bathymetric figure is shown for each area with a significant amount of shallow water. References for more detailed investigation are appended. Author
