AT SEFEN - A NEW PREPARATION FOR TREATING MENTAL AND NERVOUS DISORDERS,
Abstract:
The hydrochloride of the dimethylaminoethyl ester of n-chlorphenoxyacetic acid was synthesized in the Soviet Union under the name At Sefen. This drug, which has been used abroad under the name Lucidril, Centrophenoxine, Meclofenoxate, etc., is characterized as a unique psychocorticotonic agent with a regulating effect on the central nervous system. Soviet research has shown it to be effective as a stimulating agent in asthenic conditions of neurotic origin, in astheno-hypochondriac and hypochondriac syndromes of neurosis-like and periodic schizophrenia, in apathetic and depressive states related to cerebral arteriosclerosis or traumatic brain damage. Positive results have also been achieved in treatment of involutional melancholia, in the presence of vegetative disturbances, anxieties, apathy, sluggishness, and depressive-apathetic state. The therapeutic effect of the drug is not immediate, but may take a month or more. Author
