OBTAINING THE L-FORMS OF LISTERIA MONOCYTOGENES,
Abstract:
The authors studied the process of L-transformation of Listeria monocytogenes under the effect of penicillin. Three cultures of stable L-forms were obtained from 20 penicillin-sensitive strains of Listeria. The process of L-transformation was best reproduced on meat-peptone-liver agar with 5 sodium chloride and 30 normal horse serum. Stable L-forms were formed after the action of the antibiotic but through the M-cycle forms in passage on media with gradually increasing penicillin concentrations. Author
