ELECTRO-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF CADMIUM IN ALKALINE SOLUTIONS,

Abstract:

It is known that the final product of the anodic oxidation of cadmium in alkaline solutions is cadmium hydroxide CdOH2, which, by way of cathode polarization, may be again reduced to metallic cadmium. Determinations have been made, by the polarographic method, of the solubility of CdOH2 in alkaline solutions of various concentrations, and they have shown that the solubility of this substance increases with the alkali concentration. That is to say, Cd in alkaline solution exists in the form of a complex ion. By determining the direction of movement of this ion in a direct current field, it was established that the cadmium enters into the constitution of an anion. Author
