THE STUDY OF SUBAERIAL AND SUBAQUEOUS SAND RIPPLES.
Abstract:
The report concerns an investigation of sand ripples on desert dunes. Reasons for this approach included greater probability of appreciable wind and blowing sand during the spring months, more favorable desert temperatures during this interval and a smaller probability of thunderstorms with rain. In addition, the subaqueous studies were delayed until the summer because of warmer water and because during the fall and winter months higher seas may be expected with greater wave energy for moving sediment.
