SHIP TRACKING VIA SATELLITE.
Abstract:
Under the assumption of complete ephemeris information about a satellite orbiting the earth, a ship wishes to estimate its location and velocity. The observations are range readings of the ship-to-satellite distance taken at several times. It is assumed that angular measurements are not available. Several methods are examined and successful resolution is achieved. No randomness in the measurements is considered. An error analysis is left for a future report. Author
