HIGH SPEED HORIZONTAL RIFLE BROACHING MACHINE.

Design and development of this horizontal high speed rifle broaching machine is the first step in a series to improve the rifling operation performed in gun tubes. The current costs of rifling a gun tube are lowered by the time savings through use of the rapid bar return system. Further savings evolve from the generation of accurate uniform twists through the use of the gear transmission system as compared to using a pre-machined grooved broaching guide bar. Lowering the operating height of the equipment and designing the center line of the drive ways, the workpiece and the broaching force to a common plane adds to greater machine stability and a higher quality finished product.
