HIGH-SPEED SPARK PHOTOGRAPHY WITH A RATE UP TO 40,000 FRAMES PER SECOND (SKOROSTNAYA ISKROVAYA FOTOGRAFIYA S CHASTOTOI DO 40 000 KADR./SEK),
Abstract:
A method for high-speed spark photography is described. The equipment used is capable of producing sparks in a single discharge interval as well as in intervals whose repetition rate is easily found and regulated. The equipment can operate at speeds of 5000 to 40,000 framessec, and the usual number of frames exposed at a time is five. The repetition frequency band can easily be widened in both directions. The total number of frames can also be increased by adding more identical units to the equipment. The electronic part of the equipment, which generates sparks at precise intervals, is a multichannel electronic synchronizer which consists of a control circuit and a circuit that generates high-voltage pulses. Electron tubes are used in both circuits. The optical part of the equipment consists of two optical circuits a circuit for sparks that occur at varying time intervals and a circuit for sparks that occur in a single discharge interval. The equipment was used to photograph non-stationary processes of interaction between a shock wave and objects in shock tubes or on ballistic polygons. Author
