Research in progress includes speech studies on 1 Standardization of speech materials for underwater communication research 2 Diver to diver communication 3 Underwater speech intelligibility as a function of distance 4 Research on addition of a cavity to the vocal tract 5 Research on existing mouthpieces and 6 Research on existing microphones. Other research includes 1 Studies of speech in the helium-oxygen environment and the evaluation of helium speech unscramblers 2 Studies in underwater auditory function, emphasizing the hearing acuity and pathology of divers.
