Abstract:

A general solution to a geometric network derived from optical observations has been formulated and is being applied to networks of stations in the Near East and the United States. Greenwich Hour Angle and declination are corrected for these effects precession and nutation of the equatorial reference system, aberration and light-time due to the satellites motion, polar motion, parallactic refraction, and phase effect. The linearized observation equations are solved for corrections to station and satellite positions. This is done iteratively by least squares. In the solution, the observations are appropriately weighted and the minimum conditions for solution are strictly enforced. Author
