REPORT ON A DIRECT-CURRENT HIGH-PRESSURE XENON ARC.
Abstract:
A power supply which is adequate for a 1000 watt D. C. high pressure xenon arc is described. This supply is economical and efficient in operation, and it allows for simple and precise control of the power consumption of the source. The short term and long term stability of operation are described and it is concluded that the lamp is adequately seasoned by the end of thirty hours of operation so that valid calibrations may be made, and that approximate calibrations which are satisfactory for many purposes could be made after fifteen hours of seasoning. It is emphasized that no work or calibrations should be made until the source has been burned about one hour. Author
