TURBINE STAGE CHARACTERISTICS,
Abstract:
The working lines of a turbine stage, formulated on a working characteristics diagram, allow evaluation of flow conditions in a nozzle and in working rims by the number lambda, to establish the change in degree of reactance in dependence upon the pressure ratio sigma and relative circumferential velocity nu or lambda sub u1 and formulate universal characteristics of an axial and radial turbine. At a reduction alpha 1 in a turbine with rotating nozzle blades takes place a considerable displacement or working lines in the area of low reactance, and increase in alpha 1, it displaces the system of working lines into the zone of high reactivity. In the reactive axial stage of the turbine the reactance substantially depends upon the pressure ratios, the effect of circumferential velocity on rho is weakened. With a rise in pressure ratios the working lines approach close and at high sigma they may intersect. At a change in circumferential velocity in a radial centripetal turbine sharply change the reactance degree, the pressure ratio sigma has a weaker effect on rho. Author
