Abstract:

Infective larvae promptly molted their sheath when they were swallowed, and they invaded the intestinal wall. The larvae developed into the final 3rd stage in the intestinal wall. The larvae developed the 4th stage larvae 47 hours after oral infection. The 5th stage immature worms appeared 6 days after infection. They reached sexual maturity on and after 2 weeks after infection. Intensity of infection was very high, i.e., about 60-70 of given larvae reached maturity. After cutaneous infection, the larvae invaded the skin, attacked the subcutaneous blood vessels, and were carried to the lungs. The larvae in the lungs moved to the intestine via. trachea, esophagus and stomach. The 4th stage larvae appeared on the 3rd day of cutaneous infection and the 5th stage immature adults on the 7th day and adults on the 14th day respectively. The intensity of infection was low compared with the oral infection of the same hookworm. This hookworm seems to infect the host mainly through the mouth. Author
