Abstract:

The report is a programming manual for the S-C 4020 Microfilm Recorder CHARACTRON, at the Applied Mathematics Laboratory of the David Taylor Model Basin. The function and command structure of the various components of the recorder also are described. Use of the CHARACTRON with both the IBM 7090 and the LARC is explained. FORTRAN and LSC subroutines and calling sequences are described, and samples are included. Information about the technical operation of the CHARACTRON, flow charts, code listings, and explanations of the coding schemes used to generate commands will be included in a further, more technical report.
