Abstract:

It was found that unit load plans for 5 gal. pails submitted by the Storage Division and Mare Island Naval Shipyard are deficient in that they require special skids or altered pallets for assembly, and fail to provide proper protection for the pails when roughly handled. Palletized loads of filled 5 gallon pails were developed which will provide adequate protection against rough handling and may be easily assembled on a 48 x 48 in. and a 40 x 48 in. pallet.
