GLUTAMINIC-PYRUVIC AND GLUTAMINO-OXALIC TRANSAMINASE ACTIVITY IN INFECTIOUS HEPATITIS,
Abstract:
Determination of the activity of the glutamino-pyruvic and glutamino-oxalic transaminase may be used as a method for early discovery of infectious hepatitis, and for timely diagnosis of non jaundice and obliterated forms of it. No direct parallelism is observed between the severity of the disease and the transaminase rate during the early part of the disease. However, a quick drop in the transaminase rate indicates a lighter course of the disease. A rise in transaminase level, also observed in other diseases, does not attain a high index, and the GPTGShchT coefficient remains, as a rule, below 1. The observed slight but definite rise in the transaminase activity in contacts contact persons needs further detailed study. Author
