STATISTICAL METHODS IN CLIMATOLOGY,
Abstract:
The monograph demonstrates the application of mathematical statistics to climatology and deals with the statistical treatment of climatological data. The monograph consists of five chapters. The necessity of a statistical approach and the concept of climatological statistics are dealt with in the first chapter. The second chapter presents an outline of the fundamental principles of mathematical statistics together with some illustrative examples in climatology. Chapters 3 to 5 describe in detail the statistical analysis of the various climatological elements by means of the principles and techniques of mathematical statistics presented in Chapter 2. These elements include air temperature, wind direction and speed, humidity, cloud amount, sunshine and other atmospheric phenomena. Climatological data from China are used in the statistical analysis. Author
