ANTENNA PATTERN MEASUREMENTS OF A FULL-SCALE RHOMBIC ANTENNA.
Abstract:
Data are given on full-scale HF antenna pattern measurements made by towing a battery-operated transmitter behind an airplane and recording the signal received on the ground. The patterns of a rhombic antenna were measured at 5.1, 9.1, 15.1, and 29.0 mc. Comparison of the measured vertical-plane patterns with theoretical patterns reveals good correlation. In the horizontal plane, repeatability of results is good for large lobes the equipment did not permit resolving minor lobes accurately. Agreement between the measured and theoretical rhombic patterns indicates the value of the Xeledop technique in the field test work. Author
